Pasantingan is a kapampangan word meaning "To improve" or "to beautify". This is a product development program that is specifically designed to support and enhance the capabilities of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the community. It is a program under the OTOP Next Generation initiative, which aims to promote and support the growth of local businesses.
The program is divided into four phases, each of which is designed to provide MSMEs with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to improve their products and increase their competitiveness in the market.
In the first phase, MSMEs are introduced to the program and provided with an overview of the product development process. In the second phase, MSMEs interact with experts and designers to learn about the latest trends and techniques in product design. In the third phase, MSMEs work with their assigned designers to develop and refine their prototypes, and in the final phase, MSMEs mass produce the new designs presented by their designers.
In 2022 , a total of 24 MSMEs participated in the Pasantingan program and with the help of the experts and designers, they were able to produce a number of prototypes. These prototypes were then presented to the market and helped the MSMEs to improve their product line and increase their sales.
Overall, the Pasantingan program is a valuable resource for MSMEs looking to improve their products and increase their competitiveness in the market. It provides them with the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to develop new designs, mass-produce them, and bring them to market, which can help them to grow their business and promote economic growth in the community.
